What the hell ever happened to the common good?

Let’s face it, as Canadians, you and I may be turning into selfish jerks, generally.

Attawapiskat may be more proof. Why does the current government not give a damn that some Canadians are living in worse than third world conditions?

Why did the Prime Minister not arrive in Attawapiskat to survey the current misery as he did in Jacmel, Haiti? We love to get on our goodness high horses and launch our shiny, new CC177 Globemaster transport planes around the world as caring, empathic people, but our own native people, screw them.

It’s not all the faults of Liberals and Conservatives either, it’s us, dear fellow citizens, because we don’t really give a shit about our First Nations people. And the current government, a weird and devious bunch that does nothing ever, that does not appeal to populist bullshit myth (I work, they don’t, they’re lazy, I’m not, yada, yada) is only interested in our selfish side, because that’s where the votes are.

So nothing will be done to let these people live with a modicum of respect and in liveable environments. And yet these people are financially audited way far more than we are as citizens, and at the same time, massively underfunded in every aspect of social programming compared to you and me. Yes, they have problems, but hey, I’m still getting over the five kids being gun-murdered in Alberta by another jealous kid. As they say, shit happens.

Every day in Attawapiskat, when shit happens, some of them don’t even have toilets.
